At Shomrey Tzedek, it is our aim to gain understanding through research by using text (the original Hebrew of the Tanach and the Septuagint) and context, comparative key word searches, and cultural norms and historical practices of the time period to study biblical narratives. We believe that:

  • G-d is the Creator and Ruler of all things. He alone has made, does make, and will make all things.
  • G-d is One. There is no unity that is in any way like His. He alone is our G-d. He was, He is, and He will be.
  • G-d is incorporeal. G-d does not have a body. physical concepts do not apply to Him. There is nothing whatsoever that resembles Him at all.
  • G-d is eternal. He is first and last.
  • Prayer is to be directed to G-d alone and to no other.
  • The words of the prophets are true.
  • Moses' prophecies are true, and Moses was the greatest of the prophets.
  • The Written Torah (first 5 books of the Bible) and Oral Torah (teachings now contained in the Talmud and other writings) were given to Moses.
  • There will be no other Torah, and that there will never be another given by G-d.
  • G-d knows the thoughts and deeds of men.
  • G-d rewards those who keep His commandments, and punishes those who transgress Him.
  • The Messiah will come. We will await His coming every day.
  • The dead will be resurrected when G-d wills it to happen.
